Texas Solar Guys was happy to worked with the Austin Trail Foundation, now The Trail Conservancy, to install solar power for the Butler Shores Exercise Equipment Water fountain chiller.
This is a small off grid pole mount solar install with 2- 400watt panels, a charge controller for the 24v battery and a 3000watt – 120v inverter.
You will notice that these solar panels are tilted at a 45 degree angle. Ideally with grid tied solar installs in central Texas we prefer closer to a 30 degree pitch to have a better year round production. With this setup we increased the pitch to allow for better winter production. During the winter the sun is lower to the horizon therefore to collect more sunlight during those shorter days we pitch up the panels. This allows for a smaller battery.
